READER'S KIT
"I need to be able to crash on Sunday and be OK for work Monday."

BKS One-Piece Leathers

Doug Parnell (49) a company director from Bristol, has been riding for 33 years. He owns a Honda RC30 and competes in hill climbs most weekends on a special using the same kit he is wearing here.

"I bought these four years ago for £l200, I had heard of BKS's reputation and they are based near me so It was no problem going along and getting measured up. They' re not cheap, but I needed something I knew would protect me. I ride on the road and also compete in hill climbs most weekends so I knew I was going to be testing the protection!
"I've had a couple of hill climb crashes in them and a 75mph highside at Cadwell where I landed on my backside. I was badly bruised for two weeks and had difficulty sitting down, but I believe that the BKS suit saved me from major damage.
"The only niggle I had was when the ankle zip broke on a hot summer's day and I couldn't get out of my leathers for ages. But once I'd wriggled free, I sent them back and they were repaired free-of-charge.
"I would definitely buy another set but I hope these last a few more years. After years of riding I've learned to steer clear of tat. You get what you pay for and as I can't afford to be off work; I want to be able to crash Sunday and be OK for work Monday morning."
